The Origin of Hath Yoga
Everything that exists to date has its origins from where it started. The Hath yoga has its origin in the Sanskrit texts that were based on yoga and the experiences of its introducer Yogi Sawatmarama. The most authentic text on Hath yoga is generally called Hath Yoga Pardipika, which was compiled by Yogi Sawatmarama himself and also includes his own yogic experiences along with Sanskrits idea of yoga. This text involves details about all aspects of Hath yoga, and traditionally it is believed that Lord Shiva was the one who brought forth the practice of Hath Yoga. Thus, for Hinduism, Hath Yoga has a lot of religious history and importance. It is said that Lord Shiva transferred his knowledge of this kind of yoga to the Goddess Parvati, assuming that she would listen and believe him, but a fish overheard it, who was later made Siddha by the Lord Shiva. And from there it originated to benefit the whole world, and many Hath Yogis started practicing, following Siddha and continuing the practice of Lord Shiva.
