I Had to Pay for Everything out of Pocket
I just never really considered individual health insurance to be something that I would need until I got very sick one day. It seemed to me that it was the trigger that told me to take better care of myself, but mostly, to get insurance. I certainly did pay out of pocket for my little misadventure, and it was not fun at all. The insurance would have covered most of it if I had it, but I thought that I was super human. I suppose that I have learned my lesson, and I no longer wish to deny myself something like this. It is so important for me to keep myself covered. I used to think that the premiums were not worth it, but getting sick and having no insurance to cover me was not really worth it at all either. I should have been smarter than to put myself in that situation.
